In early October many underclassmen start to worry about the PSAT, while it isn’t as significant as the SAT it still holds value by preparing students for the actual SAT. But it is not just students who have to prepare for the PSAT, teachers also prepare to proctor the exam.
“As PSAT proctors and monitors, we have to review a training for about an hour every year,” Business Teacher William Stark said, “The training discusses our responsibilities as test moderators and how we should respond to different situations, such as if a student is caught using their phone during testing.”
Stark also shed some light on some ways students can prepare for the PSAT. These include online courses and paying attention in English and math classes. Many students also don’t realize the importance of the PSAT but it does hold a purpose, the PSAT allows you to realize any academic weakness a student may have before taking the actual SAT. When a student receives their results from the PSAT it allows them to study more in subjects and topics they struggle in so they can be better prepared for the SAT.
