 Taylor Swift has been seen at the Kansas City Chiefs’ recent games against the Chicago Bears and the New York Jets. There is speculation that she and Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs have started dating, and her presence at the games has had many impacts. There has been a 400% increase in the sales of Kelce’s jersey, and TV viewing of the Chiefs games has gone up substantially. This cross between sport and entertainment has also caused differing reactions from the fans, Swifts fans also known as “Swifties” have loved seeing her at games and have been tuning in to the games frequently. However, football fans believe that the NFL is overdoing the exposure of Swift and that they are using her presence as a way to bring in more revenue, they think that the constant showing of Swift at the game is taking away from the actual viewing of the game.
“I am a big fan of Taylor Swift and I feel like she has brought new publicity to the NFL,” freshman Lily Perez said. “It’s very fun to see her supporting other people.”
“I don’t think the football fans should be as upset as they are with her presence at the games,” Perez said. “It’s a bit annoying that they are reacting in such a way because she is just trying to support the team.”
