The first home football game was delayed because a huge storm hit Champe and its surrounding areas right as the game was supposed to begin. After the student body was sent to their cars, they waited in anticipation after the delay announcement for further updates from the athletic directors. Luckily, the game proceeded approximately an hour after the original start time.
“I think that we got closer as a student body because when the rain started, everyone took shelter together,” Dance Team Captain Mayah Noto said. “Even though the rain delayed [the game] everyone came back to cheer on our team, I thought that was really cool.” Overall, the student section was happy that the game continued, even with all the rain.
“We had been practicing so hard to put together our dance,” Noto said. ¨ I was just so excited because we still got to go out there and dance as a team.” The football team, SCA, Champe Chaos, and halftime performers worked diligently to prepare for the spirit and outcome of this game. Unfortunately, the rain negatively affected the way everything played out.
