TCU v UGA Record Title Game | National College Football Championship, 2023

The 2023 College Football National Championship occurred this past Monday on January 9. Texas Christian University, number one seed in the Big 12, went against The University of Georgia, number one seed in the SEC East.

Though the game came as a shock to college football fans because of TCU’s presence in the title, it was not a shock that UGA won the game with a record breaking title game score of 7 to 65. Making the Bulldogs two time back to back national champions. This game was the largest blowout in national title history, feeding Georgia

with their notorious notion of being “college football’s all time greats.”

TCU scored in the first quarter, but after that Georgia continued to dominate them quickly. Even though TCU fell to Georgia, TCU fans are so proud of their underdog team for sticking it out and making it to the National title after not making it their since 1938 when they won against Carnegie Tech.

TCU Quarterback, Max Duggan recaps the game in an interview with FOX Sports and discusses how “the loss doesn’t take away from their historic season.”

The game, however, was not very eventful because of the predictability it held. Though the plays were not anything shocking or eventful, the stadium and venue held a ban on tailgating prior to the game which stirred a lot of controversy. Both Georgia and TCu have large fan bases with undergrad classes of over 20,000 students. As well, both schools have customary tailgates before games, so the inability to tailgate in Los Angeles disappointed a lot of fans.
