New Teacher Highlight – Dave Garey
As we roll into a new week, we welcome Earth Science teacher Dave Garey! Garey had several positions before Champe; he was a middle school administrator for three years, opened Willard Intermediate School, and was an Earth Science teacher there. He was also here at Champe from 2013-2017, and before that he taught at Potomac Falls High School in Sterling. Garey currently teaches both academic and research Earth Science.

Garey states that he was inspired to teach Earth Science because he “…grew up on the Eastern shore of Virginia which is by the Chesapeake Bay, so [he] grew up appreciating the environment… so [he] just wanted to share that with students.”
Garey also hopes that become he can help students learn to be better advocates for themselves.
“I think it’s really important… and to be better communicators,” Garey said. “I think it’s really important to communicate their needs, thoughts, and ideas, and communicate the things that they create.”
Make sure to give Garey a warm welcome and say ‘hi’ if you see him in the hallway!
